Curtis Carmichael, BPHE, MEd, PhD Student (CEO): Curtis brings over 10 years of experience as a certified K-12 teacher, special education specialist, and instructional coach. Before shuriii, he founded a coaching and professional development business supporting district leaders, principals, and educators across Canada, the United States, and Brazil—focusing on closing achievement gaps and driving engagement in STEM/STEAM pathways and future skills-based economies. A dedicated advocate for educational equity, Curtis sacrificed an opportunity for a professional football career to cycle across Canada in 60 days to fund after-school programs for low-to-mid-performing districts that had lost funding. As a PhD student in education at Hampton University, specializing in equity-first AI models to close achievement and well-being gaps, Curtis is also an alumnus of the Black HXOUSE program at HXOUSE—the world-renowned think-center co-founded by La Mar Taylor, Abel Tesfaye (The Weeknd), and Ahmed Ismail—where the early origins of shuriii were built.
Amin Gheibi, BSc, MSc, PhD (CTO): Amin brings over a decade of IT leadership as a full-stack developer, data scientist, and VP of AI & Engineering. With a PhD in Computer Science specializing in algorithms, he possesses deep expertise across the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Amin has a proven track record of growing AI service companies and cyber-secure platforms, developing products used by over 100 million users. Notably, he helped build an AI services company from the ground up and later led a department of 120+ tech and product professionals across 20 teams. His comprehensive mastery of frontend, backend, and AI infrastructure—combined with his background as a former educator—ensures that shuriii’s technology is built for world-class performance, data privacy, and the seamless interconnectivity required for district-wide collaborations.

Meaning #1 - Shuri from Black Panther (Marvel Comics)
Just like in Black Panther, where Shuri learned from Tony Stark's mistakes with Iron Man's flawed AI system that harmed the community through poor programming, our tool is built with a different vision: one that protects rather than harms. In the Marvel comics, Shuri (portrayed by Letitia Wright) protects Wakanda, an advanced African nation, with the support of Griot, an AI system rooted in culture. Meaning #2 - It Takes a Village to Raise a Child
shuriii's unique spelling translates to the African Proverb of "It takes a village to raise a child". The essence of shuriii and its "three i's" is rooted in the ancestral connections of the founders' Indigenous and African family heritage. It pays tribute to three elements: the new generation that enters the world for the first time, alongside the adults and elders who will transition into ancestors that are honoured with a deep reverence for their life commitment to ensure all children can grow in a safe and healthy environment.
